On a sad note
Monday, 8 March 2010I got a call this morning and found out my mom’s best friend died last night. (To any of my groomsmen reading this: She was the nice lady who let you guys have her drink tokens at the rehearsal dinner.) It wasn’t a surprise, but it was still sudden—she had just been diagnosed with acute leukemia a few months ago. Just a sad day for her family and for her friends, like Mom. You’re loved and missed, Betty.
Hey, thanks, Josh for your note about Miss Betty, one of America’s Sweethearts. Groomsmen, please note: her genrousity was legendary, beginning with the time in kindergarten when she took her $6 in quarters (a gift from relatives) to school after the holidays and handed them out to friends. The school principal called her mom because he didn’t know what to do about it! And that was just the beginning of a lifelong practice. Everyone who knew her had similar stories to share at her service. Giving away her drink tokens to you guys was yet another example of her kind and generous nature. Raise a toast to Miss Betty, please.
