    Great piece; it made me want to pick up my copy of Dune again. There are interesting and, at times, awesome places in the rest of the series, but Herbert never really recaptures the perfect mix he held in Dune. Its funny, I’ve been re-reading The Wheel of Time for the last few weeks and I keep finding myself making comparisons between The Belgariad and Dune. Yay, chosen fiction.

    @Julian: Thanks! Yeah, I’ll probably check out the next couple Dune books at some point, but most people seem to agree the quality falls off a little.
